Multiple schedules: Smart charging and export slots for Growatt and GivEnergy

Multiple schedules: Smart charging and export slots for Growatt and GivEnergy

We are pleased to announce the general availability of the long-awaited multiple schedules functionality for our users with GivEnergy or Growatt systems on Time-Of-Use (TOU) tariffs.

This means you can now configure up to five schedules, be it a charge or export schedule. You can do this via one unified view, called ‘Schedules’, which replaces the previous ‘Smart Charging’ and ‘Optimise Export tariff’ views.

This article details how Wonder Watt is transforming energy management for users on TOU tariffs, with multiple easy-to-use schedules, delivering a streamlined, cost-effective, powerful and above all, hands-off approach.

Wonder Watt launches smart charging solution for GivEnergy hybrid inverters

Wonder Watt launches smart charging solution for GivEnergy hybrid inverters

Today, Wonder Watt is launching a smart and predictive charging solution for users with GivEnergy battery systems.

Hybrid inverters like the HY 5.0 as well as AC coupled inverters like the AC 3.0 are confirmed to be working.

To get started, all you need is a Google account.

We already support Growatt, so this is our second integration, with more to follow still!

With our in-house built solar forecasting algorithms we calculate solar yield for your installation and use that information to charge your battery during off-peak/TOU tariffs (like Economy 7, Octopus Flux or Octopus Go) or export to grid depending on the tariffs and settings you have specified.

Take a look at the explanation of our Service Dashboard, and sign-up for free.

A new dawn for Energy Charity: the Solar Donation Initiative or #ShareYourSolar

A new dawn for Energy Charity: the Solar Donation Initiative or #ShareYourSolar

Over the last couple of days, we’ve had some good threads on Twitter regarding donating part (or all) excess solar export to households that are struggling to pay their energy bills.

Initially tweeted by Dave Cole and supported by Kevin Holland from The Solar Shed, we at Wonder Watt are fully behind an initiative like this.

Tweets discussing donating export solar

Users that sign up for a SEG arrangement with a supplier would simply tick the amount of their export that they would like to de donated, perhaps in 25% increments: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. The energy suppliers work out the rest, in coordination with government organisations.

Kevin Holland calls it: the Solar Donation Initiative Share Your Solar, a much better term than our original take.

How to use the Growatt App to maximise your export tariff TOU

How to use the Growatt App to maximise your export tariff TOU

In this post we will show users with solar PV and Growatt hybrid inverter and battery systems on how to make the most of their export tariff by setting up an automated discharge schedule using the Growatt app, called ShinePhone, for iOS & Android.

We will also show you how Wonder Watt can help you do this more efficiently and dynamically by looking at solar forecast and the current state of charge of your battery and decide to export to the grid or not.
