Maximising savings on Agile Octopus tariff for Growatt and GivEnergy users

When we launched our restructured and simplified multiple schedules feature at the end of last year, we mentioned that we were hard at work to develop support for Agile Octopus integration.

Agile Octopus is one of Octopus Energy’s smart and innovative tariffs, offering customers electricity prices that change every half an hour, based on the wholesale price of energy.

Over the past two weeks, we have run a beta with a small group of around 25 users on Agile Octopus. Thanks to them, we’re happy to officially announce that Agile Octopus integration is now available for all users.

This means that if you have a Growatt or GivEnergy inverter, you can configure your charging window for Agile Octopus and Wonder Watt will pick the cheapest slots for you, saving you the hassle to have to set up schedules on often clunky inverter software.

Like with our regular charge and discharge schedules, Agile Octopus is supported on the same inverter hardware, which includes GivEnergy gen 1 & gen 2 inverters.

Highlights: Wonder Watt automation with Agile Octopus

The current Wonder Watt features available for Agile Octopus customers are:

  • Configuration of multiple separate Agile Octopus charge windows, eg. one for 6 cheapest slots between 00:00 - 06:00 and another Agile charge window of 11:00 - 15:30 for 3 cheapest half-hour slots.
  • Configuration of the number of cheapest 30 min slots within these windows.
  • Dynamic state of charge condition: only send the charge instruction for continuous charge blocks if the SOC condition at the start is lower than X %.
  • User setting to always choose any half hour charge slot that falls below a set price threshold, ideal for plunge pricing. By default, this is set to 0, to take advantage of negative prices.
